Painters Cheryl Fortier and Mary Anne Tateishi share a studio in East Vancouver, and we wanted to pay tribute to this great neighbourhood which nurtures us both creatively and physically. We jointly created a three-dimensional map of our favourite haunts, and then painted our individual visions of key locations. Cheryl is intrigued by the urban landscape and has captured each place in mixed media. Mary Anne loves the object and created collaged pop art paintings to represent each place.

We hope that as you look at the artwork you are reminded of the energy of this neighbourhood, and feel that "you are here". We saw the show as an opportunity to depart from our usual styles of painting and just have fun re-creating the vitality of the Britannia area. As an additional tribute, 50% of any sales will be donated to the Britannia Art Gallery and the Britannia Community Centre.
